Your pathway · Volunteers

Your time could become someone’s turning point.

Volunteers — our Cheerleaders — will offer encouragement and practical help. You will be able to explore a contribution that fits your skills, capacity and everyday life.

Your role

You could help with welcoming people, community connections or practical programme activities, within an agreed role and appropriate boundaries.

Our promise to you

We will provide clear guidance and safeguarding expectations before volunteering starts. You will not be expected to give clinical or regulated advice.

How it will unfold

A rough shape rather than a fixed timetable — you set the pace, and we will confirm the detail with you before anything begins.

  1. 1

    A conversation about capacity

We find out what you could offer and how often, so the role fits your life rather than the other way round.

  2. 2

    An agreed role and boundaries

You will know exactly what you are responsible for, what you are not, and who to call if something feels wrong.

  3. 3

    Safeguarding induction

Short, practical training on consent, confidentiality, and how to hand over when something is beyond peer support.

  4. 4

    Cheerleading

You welcome people, help with sessions and connections, and keep encouraging — without carrying anyone’s crisis alone.

This pathway will suit you if

  • You can offer a little time consistently rather than a lot occasionally.
  • You are a good listener who does not need to fix people.
  • You respect confidentiality and other people’s pace.
  • You would like to help without signing up to clinical or regulated work.

The time it will take

A few hours a month is enough to begin. Sessions can be digital or in person, and you can change your commitment as life changes.

What we will provide

  • A written role, a named supervisor, and a proper induction.
  • Clear escalation — you will never be left holding a crisis.
  • Training in consent, safeguarding and signposting.
  • Recognition for what you give, in a way you are comfortable with.

Good to know

Do I need experience?
No. Reliability, warmth and boundaries matter more, and we will train you.
Can I volunteer alongside a job or caring?
Yes — most roles will be built around small, predictable blocks of time.
Will my costs be covered?
We will talk through travel or other costs before you start, so nothing catches you out.
How many volunteers will you need?
Enough to welcome residents without overworking anyone. Your answers help us plan that number honestly.
“One pebble, dropped with care, will reach further than you would ever expect.”
